Hey guys. Just wondering if yous could gimmie a wee bit of advice. Luna has had dandruff since i got her in feb and i can feel a couple of little scabby bits on her back. Ive had her skin checked by the vet a few times since i got her because of this and was told she had no mites or lice and that she might be . Could you suggest anything else that might be causing it? or if its normal? WP_20140309_021[1].webp
this is a bit of kitchen roll after giving her a wee brush on it?

That looks like skin debris to me which is usually associated with mange mites, I know the vet has ruled it out but does the hair seem to be broken half way down the shaft?

Another possibility is some kind of fungal issue, not ringworm but there are many other types. How is her hair? does it feel greasy at all? does her skin look fluoresced?

Is the vet you saw guinea pig savvy?

A couple of my girls have the same problem. The skin is in good condition apart from being a bit flaky, and the hair is clean and soft. I think all that is needed is a good bath in a skin-friendly shampoo; something from "Gorgeous Guineas" perhaps. OR Vetsect shampoo is recommended by the experts at Guinea Pig Magazine. It covers many types of skin problems.

hey. No her fur doesn't feel greasy its really soft and fluffy. Had a look at the hair and it doesn't look broken and her skin doesn't look red or anything just dry and flakey. She really hates being patted anywhere except her head though and cracks up and kicks me lol, dunno if this is related, i hope not. Just gave her a good bath with johnsons small animal shampoo. Ill order a recommended one just now and see if that works because this was a cheapo one i got in a post office for like £1.50 :\ lol. Really hope it is nothing parasitic or fungal, it would kill me if she had been putting up with something like that for this long. Ill keep yous posted! Thanks alot!

p.s. yeah helen, the vet they go to is a small animal specialist, shes really good.
