sadly my lovely guinea pig Rory died today :o( its so sad as his friend Brillo is pining for him. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do to help Brillo now he's lost his buddy? I'm worried he's going to pine to death.

I am sorry for your loss! Thankfully, most guinea pigs come out of deep mourning after a few days and will a completely changed character once they have a new friend.

The best way would be to look for a young boar in a rescue near you.

Here is a website that contains addresses of guinea pig rescues all over the country. http://www.guineapigrehome.org.uk/gp/centres.asp

Thank you for your reply. Will he be ok on his own or is the best thing to get another guinea pig?

He will be much better with a companion - guinea pigs do not live on their own and are not wired for it. Boars can fall out, but they still like to live next door to their ex-companion or other guinea pigs, so they can interact.

Your chances are best with introducing a baby boar.

Welcome to the forum. So sorry to hear that you've lost Rory.

I hope Brillo is bearing up okay (and you too of course). Good luck finding him a pal
