I'm not sure which it was, but I'm guessing dirreah. I just now noticed it. It was the only bit of in their cage, inside a food bowl(empty, except for the waste). I am terrified for the piggies now. I'm not sure which one it happened to, and it would have had to happen today. Any possible things this could be from? Please, help! If I need to, I will call the vet. I just wan to make sure it's not from just being in a new home, and brig scared or whatever. I got them at 3 weeks old, they're now 4 weeks. Born on august 18th. Both girls(from all we know, and what the vet said). Please, please, help! Please let me know if I should ask my mother to take them to the vet!

Guinea pigs can't throw up so it wouldn't be her being sick.

Could you describe what it looks like? Sometimes guinea pigs can look like they have diarreah when they have pooped a normal poo and wee'd then walked over it making it smudgy and mud like. (from my own experience)

maybe you're feeding them too much veg? or it could be something wrong with their digestive tract. try not to worry about it, but maybe a trip to the vets would be good?

Stay calm love....... xx>>>
and describe exactly ...
but it would be worth a call to the vets and get some advice from them too.

It looked like watery poo with bits of Little pieces of hay (like crumbs, when broken up) and it was the same color as their poo. It was about, in comparison to their regular poo, 7-10 poo drops. They're are both actually popcorning right now, seeming happy, and running all around the cage. But, I know they're very good at hiding their illnesses. Also, I have been feeding them about 2-3 carrot slices (1cm), 2 small in length celery sticks, unlimited hay, unlimited pellets, 2 cauliflowers(little pieces), lettuce(about a handful), cucumber(same sizes and amount of carrots), and green pepper if they even eat it(not their fav :P)

What time is it where you are love?
are you able to speak to an emergency vets ?
10:40 at night, and I do not know of any emergency vets here! Shoot :( also, one piggy keeps climbing ON top of the hay rack and I believe she's pooping (regular poos).. Should I raise it, or leave it be?

Let them go, just have another pile of hay for them to eat :)
OK look it might be as sunnypig said maybe too much fresh veg?
Cut out veggies for a day, feed unlimited hay and their pellets.

Okay, thank you!
Possibly, I'll cut back. I know it may seem silly but I'm over here crying about this because I don't want them to be sick :( poor babies, I'll take extra care of them this week and on. They'll be well, I hope. Please, send some healthy piggy vibes their way<3

-Taylor, coconut, and cocoa.

Taylor it's OK love xx>>>xx>>>xx>>> i'd do the same thing! i'm a worry wort too!

Piggies are little guts....they will tell you they're starving..... so it is easy to over feed them at times....next time they wheeek at you as if you've not fed them ALL DAY rolleyes (whee know better that they've been fed) give them a big handful of hay!

Everyone has been so helpful, they're a great bunch on here :)

Oh I'm not the only one! Whew! (; I see... I will try that. What I do is give them their whole days worth at one time.. Should I give just like carrots in the morning, and if they're wheeking later, give them lettuce? And change it up each day?

I give my girls a little breakfast in the morning and their main food at night, but this is how they were brought up with their siblings before they came to me at 6 weeks.

Have you gone thru the list in foods for the right foods to give them? Might be worth a good look thru, there's lots of different veggies so you could plan out a diet where you change each day for a variety. Remember tho a new veggie introduced not too much.

I'll put the link on for you....... be back in a mo with it :)

the second link is very comprehensive...... but you'll see some wonderful diet tips :)

Both of these links, and you, were very helpful! Thank you so much! I'll be making sure not to over feed them and get their right amount of exercise(: I will post a food schedule for them tomorrow, and maybe you and other can take a look and let me know if it's alright? Thanks again!

Taylor i'm no expert love, it would be lovely to have a vet online wouldn't it! But then it's so hard to describe things how they'd look at it!

Velvet is ok i just have to be careful and monitor her all the time, thanks for the loves from you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

This forum has helped me so much over the years :) gosh i'm coming up to 5 years on here soon :))

Yes you're too right, they would be too busy!
Thankyou whee are unsure of her future, but whatever time i have it will be the best! x)
Piggy obsessed? who me? :(|) YUP!
I was a grannie first off tho as it was two of my children that had the piggies, they were Sully and Duke (he's my avatar), whereas now i'm a mummy to my girls.

I got to see my girls when they were 2 weeks old..... it was such a wonderful experience i'd never seen or help piggies that young before!

anyways i'm taking over your thread.....sowwy ")

If you notice anything else with their poops get a sample (pop into a jar or clean envelope and take to the vets with you, they'll want to do a sample themselves but it's good for them to see two samples, i do this each time i go with the girls.

If you have any questions regarding what to do with what looks like the runs, send me a pm. I currently have a girl who I rescued and has digestive problems. I have some tips for you as well if you need.

My one girlie I found near the dumpster in a cardboard box, malnourished, and very thin. She has since plumped out but I am still battling with the poos.

Let me know how they are doing.

Maybe you have given them new food recently? Sometimes their little tummies take time to adjust to new stuff. I would cut out all their veg/fruit today at the very least, probably tomorrow too. Keep an eye on the amount of water they are drinking, if they suddenly drink more & still have an upset tummy then see a vet. However they should be back to normal in a day or two otherwise.

I noticed you said you had given them a small amount of cauliflower - leaves are better as the florets can cause a bit of gas
As others have said, cut the veggies down, lots of hay and pellets (and fresh water of course as diarrhoea can dehydrate them quickly)
Do you have a Probiotic, I swear to keep this at home in case any of mine have a tummy upset and it really helps. A couple of piggies I rehomed recently, the boar had runny poops for 2-3 days so I reduced all watery veg, cucumber, baby tomatoes etc. and gave him 1ml of Fibreplex for three days. It cleared up as I had promised myself to get him to our vet if it continued.
They do give us frights but trust me hun, after a time with the guidance of members on here, you will pick so many great tips up and feel less in a panic. You'll learn your piggies habits - it's unreal how much info there is and how to deal with things.
Hope your piggies get well soon :)

Can I ask where you get your Fibreplex from? I am looking at the Hay Expert website & have seen the one for rabbits, is it the same thing? Thanks!
:)

Yes, carrot flavour rolleyes I had mine off the net for around £6 but needed an emergency supply so dashed to the nearest vet who charged me over £8 !
It's in a syringe, the tip is quite large so I find it easier to pop it onto my finger and persuade the piggies to have it :)
Really is good stuff and thick.

Two of my boys sit in their food bowls and pee and poop in it and generally mush it around and it does look like diarreah. Have you checked their bottoms wet hair around this area would be a good indication of diarreah.

That's okay, really :P
