Diarrhoea & mites 😢 only rescued her 24hrs ago!

I didn't know whether to give Update #4 :( or  because Tiggy's case is very sad. But then at the end of the update so lovely and moving to see her snuggled safe and trusting in the crook of your partner's arm. It's lovely when a neglected rescue pig trots over to you for comfort after meds or syringe feeding or whatever.

Tiggy will surely have more today's of happiness, safety and a nice full tummy.

Lots of love to Tiggy from Mrs Tiggy Winkle 🦔 🩷

Is she on any other medication? Arthrocam is an anti inflammatory pain medication not an antibiotic.
Oops sorry I misspoke. These are her meds:

0.21ml Arthrocam
0.3ml Enrocare
0.08ml Cisapride

I'm also giving her approximately 60ml (maximum) Oxbow Herbivore Critical Care daily, which she loves. That alone has regulated her gut enough to produce normal poos, in my opinion, though he tummy is still on the firm side. In the two days she didn't have it (we ran out), she definitely dipped.

I thought her bumblefoot was improving but now she has a black scab on the heel of her front paw, despite my efforts to keep bedding clean and dry.

Enrocare is another brand name for baytril (active ingredient: enrofloxacine). This is your antibiotic.
Cisapride is a gut motility medication.
Arthrocam is a UK brand name for stronger dog strength metacam (1.5 mg/ml), which is a painkiller and anti-inflammatory.

I hope that this helps you. My fingers are firmly crossed for your poorly girl. You are doing well to get a good amount of feed into her.

Ah sweet piggy - I also hope she gets better asap
You’re doing a wonderful job of helping her ❤️

Update #5

We have achieved NORMAL POOS! 😭🎉
Her poos are now indistinguishable from her cagemate, Nell's. I feel this is mostly down to the Oxbow Herbivore Critical Care ("sludge"). Her tummy is still firmer than is ideal, but I see the regulation of her gut as a win.

I'm hoping she's also put on weight. Two vets weighed her late afternoon/evening and she was 800g. Although it's impossible to keep her still, she has weighed 825-850g during the daytime recently. I'm continuing with daily weigh-ins until she seems more stabilised.

Back at the vets on Thursday for stubborn bumblefoot, but I feel like she's improving. 🤞🏻 I think she may also be vocalising more.

My mum visits weekly and can see marked improvements in how she looks, whereas I'm seeing her daily. I suppose I can't see it as much.

Some recent photos attached. Lovely Tiggy eating her dinner this evening; a lovely 🌹 that's forming in her fur; Tiggy and Nell snuggling nose to nose (though Nell raised her head a little when she spotted me). This damn near finished me off. 🥹 So cute.

That’s great news. I’m so pleased. Well done you. It takes a lot of work to get a piggy eating and pooping again. I’ve been there and it was so stressful.

An update on the little winkle...

I don't want to comment too much (I'm afraid I'll jinx her! 😓) but she's definitely improved since my last post. Normal poos, a slightly rounder look and feel to her body (though still very 🦴), and feet that look a lot happier (though not quite fully recovered yet). She's no longer on daily recovery sludge - we just give her it when her tum seems a bit firm again.

I tried to bond her with my two eldest sows, but all attempts failed, sadly. I might attempt to bond her with Griff and Nell (my very boisterous boy/girl siblings) in the future, but I feel her health is still too fragile at the moment. For now, she's in the middle of all her siblings in an adjoining cage, so she can chat to and interact with everyone through the bars. Not ideal, but she seems OK. She sleeps and eats a ton, and produces enough 🫘 for two guinea pigs! She's a delight. ✨
