I went to my mums friends house and was asked if i wanted 1 as they had a small cage with lots of different sexed guinea pigs and were producing babies all the time :-\
I chose 3 in the end and i still have 2 now O0 1 got put to sleep as he had diarrhea and some sort of infection 0
ANyway they were supposed to be 3 boars unknown to me 1 had a baby : so i took her and the bub out but 2 months later 2 babys 98) ;D obviously when i had found the baby i took them out straight away but they breed as soon as they give birth so i was too late
In the end i separated the 2 baby boars and the 1st baby boar well he didnt make it past 4 weeks :'( died on bonfire night last year

i researched them before i got one i wanted something a bit more interactive than a hamster but to be honest i still didn't know loads when i got dakota
I didn't. My mum used to keep them, then she got pregnant with one of my younger sisters and me and my older sisters were too young to look after them so all 22 went to a new home. Then when I was about 6 or 7 I had a bunny called Fluffy (well my mum looked after him, but I called him mine!) he got ill during the winter and died at about 4 yrs old. My mum went to Pets Corner and came back with another rabbit for me called Bubbles. She also came back witha guinea pig for my older sister (who was 14 at the time).
When I was about 11 my mum bought home Austin and Stitch from Pets Corner for me and my younger sister. Stitch had quite a few problems and passed away . I then just had Bubbles and my older sister had Daisy and Austin, which she bred. Then we had Sue and Sooty from Daisy. They had another brother/sister but s/he was stillborn. :-\ . We adopted Rocky and Toffee from a woman in essex who couldn't look after them anymore because she got a puppy.
Because my older sister is now at college she didn't have time to look after the piggies, so it was either rehoming or finding someone to look after them. So I said I would about a year ago. I went on the internet and found out loads of info for them and I have now been caring for all 13 from early this year. O0 I also look after Bubbles the bun too !
I did lots of read a lot of books on them and talked to friends who have piggies before even thinking about getting one, but now I totally hocked on them.
