Hi everyone

Has anyone (who is not particularly great at sewing haha) made their own fleece liners with success? I do have access to a sewing machine.

I've been looking on eBay but the standard sizes seem to be 120cm by 60cm which would be too small for my cage and I don't think overlapping the fleece would work too well.

Girls are currently on Fitch which I really love, but I'm already getting visions of festive fleeces with gingerbread men patterns and cute little matching hidey houses.

Any recommendations for UK stockists of fleece liners and accessories?

Thanks guys. X

Hey, I make my own fleeces for my pigs! I'm the bad at sewing! I measured parts of the cage, where the fleece will be. I also used some videos to see type of fabric to use! My two guinea pigs love it, and they sleep in it! I wish I knew I could have made that instead of spending £50 on igloos for them, when I could have made this.

ive just ordered some christmas themed cosies from pampered piggies boutique.all are well made.ziggypiggies,c and e cosies, piggiepigpigs all make cosies and liners.it is the only time of the year that i theme there cages with fleece items !

Thanks so much for all your replies.
It seems that there are more choices in the US for all things guinea pig related, than here in the UK. (Or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places)

These pigs were supposed to be pets for my daughters but I'm besotted with them. Hubby thinks I'm bonkers! :))

I ordered a load of fleece fabric and made my own liners. They are fleece, cotton mattress topper, fleece, sandwiched and then sewn together. They're far from perfect, but they do the job ok. Next time I might order some from one of the fabulous piggy tailors. :D

I make my own cosies, tunnels, cuddle cups and liners. My cages are pretty big so I just sewed a couple of fleece blankets together and hid the seam join inside. I used fleece, towel, fleece. They work well and look pretty good :)

I hand sew my cage liners. Fleece zorb fleece and fleece mattress protector fleece. They have all lasted well. I love fleece shopping.

I made ikea bed mattrsses too. Bought shower mats for under the beds.

Aw such cute scruffy pigs, mine are abys (if you couldn't already tell by my name haha) and I just love their mad hair!
Those little wooden beds are hilarious. Love your cage, such lucky pigs.

It depends on what you mean, some people have put an absorbent then sandwich it between 2 pieces of fleece, mine would flick the edges up & crawl under it. Or you could put an a absorbent layer over the correx cover with fleece & tuck the fleece under the correx. Then you only have to sew the pieces together.

Ziggy's Piggies Are great and will make whatever you need to whatever sizes you need, never ever gotten a “no” from them. Lovely customer service.
I have used Ziggy's Piggies a couple of times myself and loved what I have ordered.

I got 2 girlies and ended up with 5 thanks to a surprise shop litter. I love them all and my OH thinks I'm bonkers too! Especially when I said if I lost one of them I would be devastated! I said to him that just because its a little guinea pig doesn't mean I don't love it any more than I would a dog or a cat. He could relate to that as he had both when he was growing up. I have totally bonded with all my gps and hope to have many more happy years with them!

I can't sew so I glue my liners together with hot glue. It acually works really well. I wash them on cool and don't repair them very often.

Ziggy is lovely, she makes all my rat hammocks and it’s always a pleasure to buy from her and her small team. Feels good too to be able to support her (she turned it into a business due to her disabilities hampering her chances with an employer).

Some brilliant ideas here thanks everyone for your help and I'm definitely going to check out Ziggy. My hubs will be presented with my Xmas list very soon haha :)
Its so lovely too see people on this forum care so much for their pets and want them to have the best life possible. I don't care if people think I'm bonkers (I am a little bit) I just feel that all animals that are chosen to be kept as pets deserve to live a wonderful fulfilling life.

Just ordered some cage liners and bits from Ziggy's Piggies, some nice funky patterns, I'll post some pics when they arrive.
It's addictive though isn't it, getting all the little accessories. I hide the parcels from hubs and casually put the bits in their cage, he goes "what have you ordered now, what on earth is a carrot cottage!" lol

Thanks for the recommendations x

If you need larger sheets, then go to s meterial warehouse. I picked up a fire damaged roll which had wonky edges but great for what I needed. It was about 20 metres long, so plenty of spare in case I messed it up :D

Omg your piggies names, Chas & Dave that's hilarious. You need to compose a piggy version of 'That's what I like'

Really pleased with my order, pigs seem to love it too, lots of zoomies and popcorning  (taken just before I put their hidey homes back)
I have a zebra print and a leopard print one also.
Thanks for the recommendation :)
