I am going to get known on this forum for asking stupid questions ! I am lookin at gettin a C & C set up as they seem to offer the most versatility but it crossed my mind that they might just climb out like a hamster would...! Obviously they don't as so many of you seem to use cages without roofs... Am I just being a paranoid new owner LOL....! ::)

Some of them climb on top of next boxes to sit and look but thats just when its a step up... they are not really capable of climbing up bars. I must admit I did wonder the same before I got my C&C pens. My piggys are in an open C&C run and I have never worried they would come close to getting out- its really lovely to have easy access to them. It has made even my more nervous pig more confident with being picked up beacuse there is no faffing with doors and clanging of bars etc. If you are worried though you could try a lid. There are some examples of closed versions of the pens on the Cavy Cages site iteslf ww.cavycages.com

Squeak tends to take a run up and then jump ontop of her little guinea villa in her run in the garden, but thats about her limit I think..:) I have never seen her try and climb any bars, but tbh, I dont think she could be bothered anyway! haha ;)

When I was little we had a pig called Queen Bee and she used to climb upstairs when noone was looking.... apart from that I've never had any that would be so active as to jump out of a cage! They have all tended to be pretty lazy :)

Woo really! I didnt know they could climb upstairs. My piggies live in a cage under the stairs that my hubby built and we just open the door in the evening and allow them to run riot in the hallway, i suppose I'm going to have to watch them now or they could end up popping upstairs to visit the kids while theyre in bed! :)

Not that the kids would mind infact they'd love it lol

just to add, my houdini Harvey does and often climbs the bars of his c and c run I did post a pic of him doing it on here once, he uses it like a ladder, nothing a guinea pig can do amazes me any more i have had one male climb on his pigloo jump onto a two by four bit of wood balance and walked along it about 3ft, and jumped into the girls run, if you could have seen it it was amazing, now they have seperate sheds, to stop Harvey climbing i added a grid from the corner he used, on top now I'm waiting for him to walk up side down, but to be honest nothing surprises me anymore,

Vash tends to jump more than climb he will go up to my sholder but that is about it. He jumps quite well if he wants out of his cage he jumps on his igloo and every night he jumps up the stairs to where his cage is on the top floor. Since we are moving I guess he is going to have to get use to not having steps to climb.
