hiya i gave benson and stanley some mange tout along with some sugar snap peas and green beans. They ate everything except the mange tout which is un touched. They obviously don.t like it - but why?

I'm not sure if all guinea pigs generally like mange tout, but guinea pigs have different personalities and tastes and whatnot, just like us. Just like some humans might love bananas while other humans hate them and won't touch them, some guinea pigs might love a certain kind of food while others won't go near it.

It might just be a personal preference of theirs.

Have they ever had it before? I used to find that Machu wouldn't eat anything new the first couple of times I gave it to him. It's like it took him a bit to understand "That new stuff in my veg bowl is food, too."

Sounds like my girls!

Mine can be quite picky and will generally leave it til last, but they will eventually eat it. Sometimes they are more keen than others, but they are always suspicious of new foods.

no they hadn't had it before but they are still babies so i suppose a lot of foods are new to them. I just found it odd how i put the mange tout in the bowl together with green beans and sugar snap peas - it was only the mange tout that got rejected. It was the first taste of sugar snap peas too but they were polished off very fast. They only got some of those for a treat as i was having some myself and took pity on them. Same with the green beans - buy them for me to eat and end up sharing! least i can keep the mange tout for myself!
