Hello! I am wondering if Guineas sleep with eyes open, because I have seen them resting like that but am unsure whether they are sleeping or not. Thank you :)

Yes, some do and some don't :) It's normal either way. I have noticed that the more confident they get the more likely they are to shut their eyes eventually.

Yes, they can. Sometimes they will keep their eyes closed if they are very relaxed. I have found temperament may come into play... I have some very mellow guinea pigs who often sleep with eyes closed, but also had more high-strung guinea pigs who very seldom closed their eyes all the way- Sundae would sometimes have her eyes at half-mast, but I never once saw Frenzy sleep with her eyes shut in her entire life! But if they are laying down, looking comfy, they are likely dozing, even if their eyes are open.

mine sleep with them open... freaked me out when i realised lol ! Gladys will sometimes close her eyes when on my lap in her favourite blanket.... i love it when she does that.. x

I am quite good at spotting who's awake and who's asleep but I got a nip just the other day when I startled a sleeping piggy who I thought was awake during the cage clean! So yes, they do sleep with their eyes open. But not always.
