Senior Guinea Pig
...where certain guinea pigs can "help" you sort it out.
I have a large packet of Nutripowder (syringe feed powder) to use up by the end of August. I bought it about a week before Tuppy died in January, and haven't needed to syringe-feed anyone since, so have left an almost full bag for the past seven months. I suspected it'd be nearing it's end, and it's BBE date is August 09. So, this morning I thought I'd give them some Nutripowder as a treat while I cleaned the cages out.
I did see Bree coming up alongside me. It did not register in my mind that she was about to lean on the bowl half full of the powder. Next thing I know, Bree has tipped the bowl up and poured Nutripowder all over her face. Her white blaze was white no more!
I was amused at first; I did take pictures. Then I started to worry - she couldn't not have inhaled some, since the powder tipped over her at nose level, and her nose was covered. Fingers crossed, she seems fine; she sneezed a bit and had a runny nose for the first couple of minutes, and I did clean her up and put a teensy-tiny dot of Vicks under her nose to help clear things up a little. I will worry for a few days yet though!
Naturally, the other pigs helped themselves to the spilt powder, though they much preferred the made-up version I eventually served them!
