Piggies need pellet's for Vitamin D - I did look into going pelletless but after discussing this with my vet decided against this as if you overdose on Vitamin D you can really effect there health and you should be substituting them with Vitamin D if you do decide to go pelletless. I do however feed minimum pellets.
They get Vitamin D from the sun - so if they had access to Sunlight everyday even in winter then they could have a pellet free diet.
See i would have jumped in here and said i'm not sure but wouldnt have thought so....... I thought they got vitamin c and all other nutrients etc from their dry food as well as helping to keep their teeth down...... I know they get vit c etc from veggies. Would be interesting to see what people say.
