Apologies if this has ever been discussed before, but I was wondering whether anyone else has frequent dreams about guinea pigs?!

Unfortunately, most of my piggie dreams are very much anxiety related :... - I dream the most improbable things, that are just never going to happen in a million years, eg, that I suddenly realise I haven't fed them for days, or that I've left them outside in the rain. Others are slightly less unlikely, such as them escaping from their run, and me trying to catch them. Another recurring dream is that I all of a sudden discover that where there were only 4 piggies, there are now about a dozen, and I have no idea where all the extra ones came from!

Before my husband and I got real piggies, we used to be always on the lookout for soft toy versions! (Am I allowed to be that childish?!) The first one was called Swanage, because we got him from a gift shop in that town. Once I dreamt that I called out his name, and he came running towards me, and jumped in my arms!

So, what about other forum members - do you dream about your furry friends as well, or am I even odder than I realised? ;)

I had piggies when I was a child - from 5-18years old. I'm now 36 and got Toby and Barney in May. Between 18 - 36 I would regularly have GP related dreams, probably at least 1 a month and always about my old piggies. It got to the point that it was driving me insane.

Since getting Toby and Barney I haven't had a single GP related dream - my subconscious must have been trying to tell me something!

Interesting isn't it! Obviously piggies just somehow had to be part of your life, even if it was only when you were asleep!

I have had nightmares about my piggies getting fleas...giant fleas :(

I always dream about guinea pigs. My late Peronel is nearly always in my dreams. They are just usually in the background of dreams.

I had a dream last week that a black male guinea got in my girls cage, why black I don't know :)) you know when you first wake up and think it was real, the first thing I could think of was 'oh no babies'. I was so relieved when I realised.

I think mine would run a mile if a male was in with them.:)

When I dream about my pets it's usually anxiety related, like them escaping from their cages and forgetting to feed them for weeks etc. It's usually the chinchillas that are causing the most trouble :))

Just recently I have had dreams about getting them onto an aeroplane and through customs and quarantine etc. I think that is related to missing my brother who lives in America. I think I'm moving there with all the animals. :)

ALLLLLLL the time. Either me rescuing them, something bad happening to my boys- like the house catching on fire and me rushing in to grab all four out and put them in a box together, which freaks me more because I know boys shouldn't be together or horrible ones like someone hurting them purposely or a snake getting them. Or I dream about getting new ones randomly or imposter piggies appearing that look like mine but aren't.

My most recent one that I woke from today, was I was heading home from somewhere and as I was leaving I saw three guineapigs in a tiny cramped cage. There was a chicken with eggs on top and the poo and stuff was leaking into the piggies cage. I was horrified but obviously knew I couldn't get into the cage to help them. Thankfully, they managed to get out while I was there and as I was picking them up to take them the owner came out shrieking at me and that I couldn't take them. I eventually came back and one was extremely tiny, barely had any fur and I was horrified. It managed to get out and I grabbed it and though sorrowfully I couldn't save the other two, I took this piggy straight away to my guinea pig specialist vet and kept an eye on him, helping the little one get better. Then I woke up before I ever found out what happened to the other two.

I had all sorts of animals so my dreams were rabbits that I forgot I had so half were dead when I found them, another with kittens in hedges and baskets outside and rabbits and guinea pigs in a warehouse where I was working in drawers and desks and these changed into domestic rats I AM A STRANGE WOMAN

Thanks everyone for sharing your dreams - I'm glad I'm not alone! Some of these piggie dreams can be seriously worrying though, can't they, and a great relief to wake up from!

I have regular guinea pig dreams, but only really ever about one of my piggies, Chester,he’s my favourite piggy (i know we shouldn’t have favourites but he just is) he is always just happy and walking around in my dreams, a few times he’s been singing jazz on a stage wearing a top hat while i’ve walked past as part of another dream, but he’s always on his two back legs walking around about the size of penguin. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking haha.

I've just woken from my first piggy dream - it involved an escaped Frodo who was covered in bald patches from some form of skin condition (clearly related to my panic the night before upon finding the bald patches behind his ears!)

I used to keep hamsters and every so often since then I've had dreams with the recurring theme of me discovering their old cage and finding they're actual still alive and have somehow multiplied and are usually escaping! I have a feeling these dreams may stop now and be replaced with g.p. dreams!

I have had nightmares where the piggies are out and about in the garden, and something swoops down and snatches one of them :( hence why I am so over protective.
