Does any here currently use Soft Timothy from timothyhay.co.uk?

I am after the 'soft timothy hay' option but 8.5kg is a big commitment. The pictures on the website could be years old. Sadly they do not respond to emails.

If you have the hay, can you put some pictures here please? Would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I use the soft timothy from hay box. My piggies love it. I did use timothyhay.co hay a few times years ago but found it inconsistent in quality. Hay box hay comes in 5kg boxes.

I also use haybox Timothy hay, although I go for the 'blend' option.

It's lovely quality hay and very green, some of my pigs prefer eating it instead of their veggies which never happened with any other hay before.

I buy the orchard hay from there and have done for about 18months and every box has been brilliant!

I am switching from Haybox because their boxes have so much dust and inedible short pieces that my guinea pigs ignore. I am at the bottom of my Haybox timothy blend and I put the rest which is pure dust and ~2cm long pieces in a bag to weight it - 1.5kg of that in a 5kg box! And out of the remaining 3.5kg, probably 50% is eaten. This is so much waste.

Thats odd. Have you spoken with them about it?
I use haybox (have done for a few years now) and hardly ever find dust and even if there is some, it’s only a tiny amount

I use Haybox and only have a small amount of dust. All the hay I have bought has some dust, wherever it’s from.
I think it’d be worth having a word to Haybox …..they’re very approachable and would want to chat to you about this.

I've not had that problem at all.

I haven’t used timothyhay in a long while…since last year. Their soft timothy hay was always nice and the piggies loved it.

I used haybox for about 7 months and had the same issue with their meadow hay. So much of it was unusable, for the price it just wasn't worth it. I now use a cheaper meadow hay for their bedding and a timothy/meadow mix from Hop to Forage. It works out more expensive than haybox, but both the pigs and I prefer it 🙂

Yes I've talked to Haybox about it. They said 'it's a natural product' blah blah and said they can't refund me and I can't return it because opened. I have now made a payment dispute with my bank.

This is the 3rd time I ordered from them and each time the quality was worse and worse.

Honestly not exaggerating. When I was down to about 1/3 of the box, I carefully picked out all the remaining larger stalks and kept the dust and ~2cm pieces to weight it and it amounted to 1480g. In a 5kg box, that's a lot.

Have you already used the box that you’re disputing the payment for, or did you just open it? I don’t know that they would give you a refund. Unfortunately it is a natural product that will vary throughout the year. Sorry.

I would not be able to know how much dust/short bits are left without using up most of it, so yes it was used. Yes it might be a natural product but each box for the past 6 months has been the same experience. Also I left a 2 star review adding the pictures of the dust/short bits that was left and it was removed!
