Hi I have a black fur guinea pig, shes been casting quite alot but she's got a full thick fur coat still, I've noticed little black specks in where she sleeps and combed her as well as scrub a baby wipe across her to have a good look and it doesn't go brown/red when wet, is it still flea droppings or fleas? Or from hay I've been reading up? I've also been putting this stuff on her from time to time which helps prevent fleas so I'm clueless?

There are no specifies specific fleas which guinea pigs suffer with. Therefore, what you are seeing are not fleas. The black specks may be the eggs of hay mites though, but only a vet can diagnose.
Please do not use the spot on treatment in the picture and certainly not as a preventative. Such treatments from pet shops are low dosed and are not strong enough to deal with any problem. If a piggy does potentially have mites then you must see a vet and get a prescription strength treatment which is given as part of a course of three treatments given at certain intervals apart, to kill all life cycles of the mite and deal with it effectively.
Using the treatment in the picture ’from time to time’ will not help and can lead to resistance forming making the treatment so much harder.
Please do have your piggy seen by a vet to be given the correct prescription strength treatment.

Hi!

Please never treat on spec with broad spectrum flea treatments; they can be fatal for guinea pigs. Guinea pig do NOT have species specific fleas. Multispecies pet shop treatments are as a rule too low dosed to cut through an acute outbreak. It is ultimately cheaper to see a vet for a proper diagnosis and the appropriate vet grade treatment.
