I had 2 guinea pigs which I re-homed but unfortunatley one passed away a few weeks ago.

Now I dont know whether to get Darwin (who is approx 2 years old) a new friend. He is a very big guy and I'm just concerned that he wont be very happy about a new-comer in his space.

I keep him indoors alot of the time now as I dont want him to be lonely outside, especially now its so cold. But I feel sorry for him because he doesnt have a piggy friend anymore.

What should I do?

Any advice?

Bonding 2 older boars, although unusual, can be done but the usual thing to do is to go for a baby boar so there is no issue over hierarchy. However, things can get a little hairy for a bit when baby goes through puberty.:red
It is highly recommended to take your older boy along to choose a friend, most rescues will find this is acceptable practice, that way, there is little room for a failed relationship. If you decide to get Darwin a friend, you will see him change radically and experiencing your piggy showing the ropes to a baby is wonderful. They learn very quickly, especially the naughty things.:))

I hope you find a friend for him. I believe its illegal to own one guinea pig in Tuscany Italy. In the mean time you might want to try a morror in his house. I know piggies are not like budgies but it might help.
