Does she need a bath?

Wasn't sure where to put this!

My little sow Rosie has a small sticky matted patch of hair about an inch or two above where her tail would be (if she had one!) Don't know what it is or how it got there but she has longish hair over that part of her body and it's kind of buried amongst it, in a clump. I've tried to sort it out with a baby wipe but it has no effect. Should I give her a bath? I'm reluctant to do so at the moment as she's only just started to trust me and I think bathing her might ruin that.

What do you think?

It sounds like a grease-gland if she was a boar, not sure if sows have them, thinking about it! I would try swarfega or fairy liquid on the dirty bit, then give her a normal bath with guinea shampoo. Posh n Go from Gorgeous Guineas is good for long-haired pigs and I think they do conditioner now too!

Is she going to hate me though for bathing her? For the first time yesterday she took some food from my hand and I nearly cried with joy! Feel really wicked pouring water over her when she's just started to get brave!

Was about to post about baths my self............. do guinea pigs in general like baths or do they hate them?

I'm new to the piggie world so cant help. Hopefully someone will answer this for us as i would like to know. I was wondering how often would a piggie need a bath ?
And if the piggie lives outdoors , I'm assuming its just best to do it in the summer ? SORRY for hijacking your thread. But youve made me think.x :)p

Hannah has just about the right ratio there I think. There's more hate a bath than love it! I only do mine when it is 'necessary' xx

do you have to have special shampoo or can you use like johnson baby shampoo not got no proper shampoo yet and wondering if normal shampoo will irratate there skin
