I only read this morning that you shouldn't give piggies any fruits that have stones. Is this correct and if so what is the reason? I have fed mine nectarines and plums in the past thinking they were OK and they have gone done a treat but obviously if there could be an issue I will discontinue doing so. Was the post I read meaning don't give the stones as I make sure they are removed before feeding. Thank you for any help and advice.

are you sure that what you have read refers to stones of fruits? because actually fruits (and other sugars, also the ones from flour) alter ph balance and are not recommended for the risk of developing stones into the bladder. At least it is what I read somewhere...

Hmm I will re-read what I read this morning. You've got me thinking now :lol!:

Its on this forum 'long term balanced general and special needs diet' under the fruits and tomato heading it says no stone fruit or most exotic fruits

Maybe they are talking about feeding the actual stone and not the fruit itself :hmm:

Your can feed the fruits after you've taken the stone out seedless grapes etc but don't give fruit more than once a week else you risk them getting a very painful condition chillitis (I now that's not how it's spelt) lol

I know that fruit with stones eg plums are toxic for rabbits but not sure about guinea pigs.
