I love Autumn, it's my fave time of the year. Mind I wouldn't know about dark mornings anymore as now I don't work - I'm not an early riser. Hubby just gets up and sees himself out ;)

Barbara

same goes for me I love spring and autumn so much in nature changes, I hate being hot as its hard to cool down but being too cold you just up the heating and wear thick comfy clothes ummm lovely, christmas well um not too keen a little too commercialised for me but we do decorate the outside of the house for the 2 youngest and the Grandaughter so thats fun, plus we have a new grandchild due around christmas this year, more looking for ward to our holiday in march

No into the darkness but yeah, Autumn winter fan here too! Love the colous and the feel of the fallen leaves, love the excitment of snow and christmas. Adore boots, winter coats, hats and jumpers... so the dark nights is a small price to pay. I think it cosy this time of year inside curtains drawn...

I love all times of year the only thing I dont love about this time is you always seem to have a period of around three weeks where you just feel shattered (think its while you adjust to the new season). Also I dont like getting up to go to work in the dark and leaving on a night into th dark. I DO love sitting in the house all cosy in my pyjamas when its freezing outside!

I always find that I lose weight more easily in the winter. The food is better and keeps you full and I can exercise so much more cos I'm not dripping with sweat after just putting my trainers on ;D

I agree

I make homemade soups and fill up on lovely veg

But sometimes i pig out and have a big pile of mash

oooh mash. I love mash its devine. My fave dinner is mince with mash, peas and onions :P

Oh don't! I love mash too, but it has to be homemade with lumps and lots of butter and bit of milk and occassionally a bit of pesto (odd but it works! So bad for the diet though.

I also recommended butternut squash mash, absolutely gorgeous!

me too and I've just had brekkie ;D

I have to lose as much weight as poss between now and Feb cos I'm going to Ireland. If I stay this weight I'll have to pay for 2 seats ;D
Billie's Mum (I really do have to learn everyone's names) can I have your recipie for soup please? Think I'm gonna need it :)

sweet potatoes are better than normal potatoes though. And its comfort food! If I ever have an awful day or feeling ill (like now, I have a stinker of a cold), then I will have mash for dinner!

Excellent way of making soup (SW way) is veg such as carrots, leeks, onion and turnip, two stock cubes and then just boil it down....oh, and bacon if you like bacon in your soup, lovely chunky or smooth...

My name is Jenny also (just to confuse matters)

I have an excellent recipe for Butterbean and Mushroom soup that I will dig out at home and post up

Here is another for Spicy Parsnip Soup:

Sweat (cook on a v low heat) 2 onions in 1 tablespoon of butter until soft
Add loads of parsnips (chopped)to a big pan
Add enough vegetable stock to cover the parsnips
Add some curry powder to your preference
Simmer for 30 mins or until parsnips are soft
Remove from heat carefully
Blitz with a handblender to the consistency you desire

Eat or freeze (or both)

Very simple but filling and yummy

You can have a mix of carrots and psnips if you prefer

2 onions sweated in butter + veg + veggie stock is the basis for most soups that I make

I shall be getting my soup pan out later!

At least you spell your name differently to mine....!

Honestly its so easy to make and v cheap

Also you can just chuck anything in thats in the fridge

I make batches on Sunday afternoons and freeze and have them for lunches during the week

I love doing that, spicy soup on a cold day - can't beat it! Now if I can just wrestle the carrots off my gp's....

Ive got to hang around tonight as ive got pilates at 7

Boo

Thanks for the recipies Jenni and Jenny :)
I think I'll have to get my hubby to make the soup though. It sounds too complicated for me.
