Jemimah had an emergency spay last year.
Once we got the painkillers right she improved rapidly and was soon back to her normal weight and her bouncy self.
It was a worrying few days but worth it.

Hoping all will go well for Dot

Next problem is booking a day off on a friday at work, so that i can take Dot for her spay, i dont want to wait too long, i have also got to hope Simon is in on the friday i book.

I might go for the 15th or 22nd. But Dot is still on the marbocyl on the 15th

I was just thinking about this, when I book cheesy in for her spay I wanted to take fuzz with her so she's not do stressed but would I be bringing fuzz back with me or would she stay there?

I’ve always taken a friend and my vet has kept them both there all day x

Keep these messages coming, builds my 😜confidence. I know Simons brilliant but i still always think what if

It's always difficult. I've had two males neutered, one sow spayed, and a few other ops and everytime you spend the whole day contemplating the what ifs and thinking maybe they would be ok without it etc. It's human nature and shows that you love your animals. Just think that once it's over you can relax again

Simon's brilliant :)
Has now done lots with my beasties as you know but did Jess's op when had a mammary gland cyst (big old scar, has one nipple!) and obviously Pedro's pretty nasty eye removal! And we know he's around still causing trouble! As well as my past two boys neutering and Rupert's (before I adopted them).
Hope all goes well with Dot x

thats true, I'm just hoping this lump, whatever it is, is easy to get out and isnt attached to anything he cant operate on, he said it could be attached to the bowel i think.

I’ve just seen this, my 3.5 year old sow was spayed just before Christmas to remove a large uterine tumour. Recovery took quite a while, but 3 months later she’s back to 100%. I did a thread at the time, will see if I can find it later. I didn’t have the lump tested, but apparently the majority of these tumours are benign and certainly Pepper isn’t showing any signs of further problems.

Thats interesting, when you say recovery, was it basicly syringe feeding everyday

Simon castrated another of our TEAS piggies today. Casper is eating his dinner and doesn't seem to have even noticed he's had anything done! I know a spay is a bigger op, but Simon is so quick, they're under anaesthetic for such a short time.
Thats great news😊. When Bernie was Neutered he slept all night , then in the morning he was eating again. Apparently spay is only 15 minutes. I'm just worried about waiting until may. But shes doing fine right now, just lays down alot to eat. But i still see her popcorning. I have noticed alot of rumble strutting aswell from her lately

I honestly think this possible tumour has been there since you looked after her @furryfriends (TEAS) . I'm a bit confused why Simon thinks its this now and not back then. But atleast we are getting somewhere now. If it was there since last july time, I'm sure another month or so until the op wont hurt

Yes, basically. She ended up on tramadol for a while because she was in a lot of pain, and it was a few weeks before she was moving and eating like normal.

Interestingly it took about 8 months to diagnose her as well, we started off thinking it was a UTI, then ovarian cysts (but nothing showed on ultrasound), then UTI again until the mass was big enough to catch on the ultrasound and she was spayed.

Edit - here’s her previous thread: Spaying on Friday

Thanks il have a read of this ☺.

What were the exact symptoms beforw the spay. Lets say when you first noticed. Because Dot is still active but just not quite as much. Id say about 80%
