I have feed my 12 piggies a treat once a week which they eat but not over excitedly, this being a little dried fruit. They eat dried apricots, apple, figs, cranberries and so on. I know its bad for their teeth but has anyone any experience of dried fruit in these limited amounts?

I`m told too much fresh fruit can give them mouth ulcers but can dried fruit?

They hate dried banana but will eat a little fresh banana.

A little dried fruit is fine but I would limit it to even less than once a week, perhaps once a month. Too much sugar in a pigs' diet won't affect their teeth but can contribute to them developing diabetes.

i dont give dried fruit at all i personally dont think there is a need for it :)

I tend to feed fresh vegetables, herbs for my piggies to be honest as opposed to dried fruit.

I know it is said that pineapple helps get rabbits guts moving I've heard ?

Not sure about feeding it to piggies though

vets here in oz (so could and more than likely is wrong) told us to feed our bunnies and guinea pigs pineapple juice via syringe about once a month as it was good for their tummies? all our piggies and bunnies love it but at present haven't fed any to zoe in case it upsets her. i would stick with grass, hay and herbs and the odd fruit now and again. good luck with your fur babies :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: girls send :-* :-* :-*

I don't think dried fruit is good to give guinea pigs, purely because when fruits become dried, the percentage of sugar goes up a lot - compared to the sugar levels in fresh fruit, (because it crystalizes or something).

It would probably be better to give them fresh fruit instead or buy some guinea pig treats from a shop or something.

I hope this helps

I personaly dont give my piggys dried fruit but i do give them fresh fruit and veggies. and also i give them hay O0
