Junior Guinea Pig
Cowboy started something new. He will take a pellet from the food bowl and then go to the water bottle and drink. Chew. Go back to food bowl and repeat. Does he want me to add water to his food?
I think this is normal! My piggies always have a long drink after eating pellets, and I often find pellet dust at the bottom of their water bowl from where is has whooshed out there mouthCowboy started something new. Ok, thank you.Mine do this too. Peanut always goes to the bottle first to wet his mouth before eating pellets, he's often at the bottle as soon as he hears the pellet tin open before there are any in the cage! He also spits a lot of bits of pellet and hay up the spout into the bottle. I change his water several times a day, it looks filthy as if it's not been changed in weeks!
So cute! Thank you so much!My Stewie does this when he has pellets, as others have said it’s just because they’re drysometimes he knows they’re coming next and will drink some water before he starts eating them lol x
Thanks so much. Seems from all the feedback it is quite normal.I'm not sure!
My piggies drink while eating pellets, as well. I believe that this is because the pellets are quite dry. I wouldn't add water to the food, that would probably make the pellets expand (sort of like when you leave cereal in the bowl for too long). I would probably just situate the bowl near the water so that he doesn't have to constantly run back and forth.
I hope that this helps!![]()
Thank you so much. Seems quite normal from all the feedback.Ours do this too so we put the water bottle near to the pellets for convenience. They do also tend to leave the water bottle spout in a bit of a state doing this so worth keeping an eye to make sure it doesn't get blocked or anything.
It is cute, they are such cute little critters! Thank you.Ours do this all the time, especially pelletsit is very cute to watch!
Thank you, seems pretty normal behavior. My past piggies, Prince and Cookie, did that too. That's why their pellet bowl was always beside the water bottle. My current piggies don't drink from the bottle though so I changed where their pellet bowl is now.
