Advice please, my guinea pigs got taken for a nail trim last night, when she was cutting Willis nails she noticed a dry build up on the bottom of his paw, I’ve tried my best to get a clear picture which I’ll include in the post. (his nails are naturally curled in, they have been cut last night, they for some reason don’t grow straight on his two front paws)

She’s given me hibi scrub for the build up, and she told me to massage some coconut oil into his feet too , to try and soften it up as it feels very hard. It doesn’t bother him, he’s still running around and he’s using his foot as normal. What do you guys think?

I’ve looked up the term and I will agree it does look just like the photos of a spur. Aw bless I’ve been trying to rub it off etc :(

Hi! It rather looks like the start of a horny spur to me?
They are very common and totally harmless. They only need addressing of they post an acute risk of catching on something and ripping live skin; otherwise they are best left alone.

Thankyou guys, bless him I’ve been rubbing stuff on it all morning , I’ll levae it alone now

Yea I agree with it looking like spurs. I really hope it wasn't a vet you spoke to about it who has recommended hibiscrub and coconut oil otherwise I would start looking for a new more knowledgeable vet for examinations in future
