dry ear boy?

Hi I'm looking after a friends pig while shes on Hols. Iv noticed one of his ears is looking dry? like dry flakey skin and some some scabs? Is it someone to be alarmed about? pig itself seems fine really young **** about month old.

was i a bit like this?

she went to the vet and had i think its was antibiotics for this and a mite treatment.

i also put vaseline on her flaky ears, and it cleared up.

Good call, looks like mites to me. One of my boys gets dry skin on the inside of his ear and his coat looks similar to that pic but mine has been checked and it is literally just dry skin but the redness and the scabs give mites away.

I would advise your friend to check them, she may not have noticed or known what to look for, so she can treat in future

it doesnt look as sore as that, its literally like dry skin then alittle scab close to the head.iv sent her a text to say did she notice but she didnt. its only one ear and his body is fine no scabs, flakey skin or bald patches.

If its like a white flake, its only dead skin waiting to fall off. Oreo had that and it cleared up on its own.

Looks like mites. It will spread promptly. If in doubt go to a vet!

the piggy in the picture is not the piggy in question.

i would just keep an eye on it and if it looks sore try some vaseline on it.

does he live on his own? i think my dry ear came from other piggies cleaning her ear.

Yeah little guy is on his own. He came from another friend who had an unexpected litter he was only the boy. She's going to get him a friend when she's back. Ill give the vasaline a go. Then take him for a quick check up.
