Well since the Easter weekend weather has been so shocking we decided to have a play. A couple of weeks ago they had a basic ground floor flat:

we then extended and built them a hay loft via a home made ramp from C&C grids and carpet:

And now we have extended further giving them a complete second floor:

They access the other side by a home made walk way (C&C grids and carpet again)

They have home made hay racks each side, obviously made with the grids yet again (I love these grids they are so versatile :-) )

Underneath we have used some spare wooden poles to give the top layer extra support:

Hopefully they will enjoy it

That's a stunning layout and very similar to what I have planned for mine. But yours is *much* better - so , if you're ok, (and probably if you're not lol rolleyes) I will copy it. I love the walkway, that is the missing piece for my design.

Thank you!

Ooooo it looks good :)) Such lucky piggies x)

ooh that looks great lucky piggies i think i might steal a few ideas here :(|)

Their new cage looks fantastic! Fleece and carpet must be so much easier when you have a more complicated cage like that. I know how messy my piggies are, if I gave them fleece, the washing machine wouldn't be working for much longer! Or I'd probably find that any loose hay that I hadn't got off stays in the washing machine and then rubs onto any linen or clothes!
Perhaps my pigs just have a lazy silly slave!? :))

That's brill - love it and the hay racks are excellent. Well done and hope your piggies appreciate the time you've spent renovating their flat into a mansion :(|) ;)

Lovin the design - 1 question though, where does their wee go? Wont the carpet on the top level get soaked really quickly, and poops get walked in? what do you have underneath the bottom level to absorb their mess?

Gorgeous piggles, really great setup! Bet the piggies love it.

We have corex under both layers just not scored and turned up, towels on the corex then the fleece/carpet, plus we have lots of spate carpet if it does get messy although I'm on poo patrol 3 times a day
Also they have a litter tray on the bottom layer that they appear to use most of the time

well they seem to like it, only problem is Dudley seems to block the paths for Yuri so he either can't get downstairs or can't get upstairs until dudley decides to let him....not sure what to do, obviously I'm only going by watching them tonight as I noticed a lot of poop up on the top deck when I got home, not really sure what to do?

Wow this is so fab! I can't wait til I've got enough space to have C+C for my piggies!

If Dudley keeps blocking Uri in by sitting on the walkway I'd be tempted to maybe move the ramp and install another so * have one at both ends of the upper floor. * could have them perpendicular to the way they are now so that they run along the short edges of the cage and don't impede too much on the downstairs space. This way neither will get blocked in and they can always escape each other! Plus they will have a fab circuit if like my boys they like to run laps of the cage!

So glad to see they're getting on well together - both such cutie pies! :)) x)

Yes I've already suggested we make a second ramp up to the othhr side. We did wonder if the carpet on the new part of the upper tier was the issue as this is from our old flat where Dudley was on his own, would he get protective over it if it smells of him? We are going to change the carpet tonight and see how they go but chances are we will put a second ramp in, my only concern with all these ramps is how much fun I will have when I try and change their fleece bedding on the bottom layer :...

Ha, yeah that's gonna be fun! It would be good if you could fasten the ramps just at the top so that they hinge? The one on my cage is hinged just at the top and its still secure when they run up and down but makes it really easy to just flip up to change the fleece. :)

the ramp is fastened to the top and side of the cage so that may be ok, its the supporting legs for the second floor that are in there as its very fiddely but we will see
