E|ye closed over - lump above closed eye

Today I got back from school only to find that Harriet - one of my two female guinea pigs - was lying in the corner of the cage. I picked her up just to check was ok. I was completely shocked to find that one of her eyes was completely closed over. when my dad got back he found that she was also breathing quite fast and that there was a pretty big lump between her ear and eye.:( She is almost exactly 2 years old and also - i think this may be the key - the eye closed over was previously clouded:... PLEASE HELP

Welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear that one of your piggies may be unwell.

It is difficult to advise you without seeing a photo of the problem but I would suggest that you phone your vet for advice and get treatment for her as soon as possible.

I hope all goes well - please let us know how things go.
 
you must be so worried I'm sorry your piggy is unwell. Just try and get her to the vets as soon as you can. As Goldie says it would be quite useful if you could get a photo to put on here. I hope everything goes well and keep us updated.
 
I thought the clouded eye was blindness in one eye or maybe cataracts. I think it may be a tumour as when i put her on the table she was not lively and found it difficult to move:08...:...:( also that explains the lump.
 
It could be an abscess as they form pretty quickly, or an infected bite.

I've had a dog blow up with a golf ball sized abscess overnight so I can see how the same could happen to a pig.

:()Sadly she died last night at about 1 o clock. I AM SO UPSET:...8... i didnt get to sleep at all last night. I think it was a heart attack as she had those sympoms. RIP HARRIET8...
