Well, I tried,, everything seemed to be going well, they were sniffing bums, but then they started chattering teeth so I put my hand in the way and now my hand is covered in blood. The older one grabbed on to me with his teeth so I put my hand up and he was dangling from my hand biting my hand still... Yeah..
Teeth chattering is bound to happen while establishing boundaries, and should only interfere when they start fighting. Hope your hand is disinfected and clean. A hand should never come between guinea pigs introducing, only tea towel etc. It would be a good idea to introduce them again. Hopefully all goes well
You really should read the threads on bonding... I'm not sure of your age but can you get someone to read up and help you bond them?
You should never put your hand in between animals, hence the tea towel I mentioned. When they're tense like that and you put your hand in front it will startle and that's probably why you were bitten.
I am 24 and have lots of experience with guinea pigs, but just not experience with bonding, because I have always adopted in pairs. I did read the thread, but in the really tense situation, I didn't know what else to do, as older Piggie didn't even care about the tea towel..
I don't think it needs stitches, after the bite, we put them both separate while I cleaned up my wound, then we let the older one run around the little one while the little one was in His cage on the floor. They were squeaking in a friendly manner to each other
