Okay, so my piggy Bubbe and I were having a snuggle session when I ran my hand across her ear. I felt something crusty and sort of waxy and suddenly saw that there was a lot of black crust up on the outer part of her ear by her head. The fur there is black so it blends in very well. I tried to get a closer look but every time I touched her ear there, she would shake her head like I was hurting her/making her itchy.
I'm not sure what this could be, and I'm pretty worried about it.
I plan to give both my piggies baths and ear cleanings tomorrow, even though I looked at my other pig who is in the cage with her and did not find anything on her ears.
Please let me know what you think this strange black crust could be!
Thanks,
PepperPig

Any chance of a clear close up picture?
Makes it easier to see what you mean.
Sorry I'm no expert, but hopefully one of the more experienced members can help. Hope you're sorted soon. Xx

You need to see a vet, piggie could easily have ear mites, only way of treating is ear drops. Sure sign when your pig is not wanting there ears touched, which I appreciate can be difficult at the best of times. If scabby and bits coming away, then yep, it's ear drops.

My guinea pig has the same thing. I looked on a website and found a lady who's guinea gig had the same thing. She gave the instructions on how she solved it. She said that she thinks it is a fungi. She also said to get a fungi cream and rub it on the dry spots every day or twice a day depending on how bad it is. For three weeks. Also to give the guinea pig a bath every week. And if you have two guinea pigs (i have 2.) Then give them both baths each week to prevent the other guinea pig from getting it.
