No it's not me - it's long-haired Louise's little problem. She arrived here with her own bottle of Cleanaural (for dogs). She has no nasty ear problems and has been vet-checked but I think she might just get a hotter head and have less ventillation because of the general floof so makes a bit of wax. It's not a lot, and if it's soft I can actually just comb it off her hair but I found a crusty dry little bit tonight and gave the ear cleaner a go. I'm just a bit wary of using things I don't know - they said "wear gloves!" and that made me think that if a person might react to it how must a pig? Also Zara occasionally licks her ears and I suspect she's having a little go herself.

Has anyone any experience with cleaning small amounts of ear wax like this? Should I stick with the Cleanaural or try something like warm water on a cotton pad to soften things up? It's not a serious issue but as she didn't seem to mind having her ears fondled I thought we'd make it a regular thing 💕

I would consult a vet before using anything to be honest. Even if it’s not that bad. Could you perhaps keep the hair round her ears short so it’s notify to pick up wax while brushing luxuriously against her ears? 😁

It's actually the hair just inside her ear flaps (she's got hairy ears like an old man!) rather than the floof outside... although she did have a very attractive 'earring' on one side when she arrived that Zara just couldn't leave alone! But down the ear canal there's nothing. They checked her at Blue Cross and said she's just a waxy girl. I'll keep the surrounding hair as short as I can to try and assist ventilation though.
Daughter had her first extended hold today and they really hit it off. They are both floofy girls really! Louise nearly nodded off in her lap with the stroking and I said to try and gently fondle her ears as she seems to like it. I was eyeballing my teens lockdown-long nails and thinking, "Next time we might put those to good use!"
