I noticed today that Rumple has bits of ear wax in only one ear . Are you meant to clean wax out of a piggie's ear or just leave well alone and let nature take care of it ? ")
Keep an eye on it and if it gets excessive it can be cleaned out. Ear wax can be a home for ear mites because they love the wax. I clean out some of my piggies ears that have excessive wax build up. I use a dry cotton bud for oily wax and a bud with a bit of olive oil on for the dry wax build up. I never go deep into the ear, only the folds that you can see. Be very aware that a piggy will shake it's head when there is a bud in it's ear, so caution is to be used at all times to avoid the bud going deep into the ear. Always use a fresh bud for the other ear in case of spreading anything. I have never used ear drops on my piggies so I can't comment on it's effectiveness. I find it odd that there is usually just the one side that needs cleaning.
Maisie suffers terribly from waxy ears. The vet has cleaned them twice for me but normally as Dindypig has stated just use a bud on and around the folds never inside.
