My Sophia (abby) has drier earwax only in her left ear. It's a small hunk right in the ear canal. I've been using Trizultra Keto which got rid of her earwax about 5 weeks ago, but it seems to be coming back.
Is it possible it's a deeper issue than just earwax? This is the second time I've had to use Trizultra to clear out the wax.

Guinea pigs ears shouldn’t have wax in them. I suggest a trip to the vets for a check up and for the wax to be removed safely
Do you know what can cause the earwax? I had heard that some guinea pigs develop some overgrowth of skin cells in the ear such that it’s not really wax, just an accumulation of dried skin. I have heard teddies are prone to this “earwax” but I’m not sure why my abby would have it only on one side.

Hi!

Some guinea pigs can be more prone to producing an overabundance of ear wax. Most guinea pigs never have any issues.
We do not recommend to home treat on spec as you can easily make an existing problem worse, especially when it affects the middle or inner ear and causes a head tilt.

As the problem is recurring, it may good to have it vet checked in case it is connected with rabbit eat mites or something else and discuss appropriate ear care with your vet if it is indeed an overproduction of ear wax.

Hi :)
I was wondering what you mean by “home treat on spec”. She usually doesn’t have much of an issue but sometimes shakes her head possibly to try to remove it herself. Should I discontinue the Trizultra for now?

If it is a recurring problem, then I would speak to a vet to make sure that there is not an other cause and that they are happy for you to use the Trizultra.

We have deliberately taken any ear drops off our first aid treatment after seeing piggies with fluid and all sorts poured down the ears on here. I am fully aware that you are far too sensible for that; but I also have to be careful with any advice because any threads on this forum can be being thrown up on google searches for years to come. ;)
