Hi everyone, :)

Have read quite a few posts on this site regarding the various types of bedding used, be it hay and paper, sawdust, vetbed, wood shavings etc.... We have found a product available at our local Farmer's suppliers of Easibed, it is usually used for Horses, it costs £7 for a huge vacumn packed bale, and we have been using it for the last 4 weeks, cleaning out the hutches and cages twice, sometimes three times a week, and oor wee piggies seem to like it a lot, just wondering if anyone else has been using this product and liked it as much as we do :smitten: :smitten:

Pigsdad

We use it in our pet shop for the small animals, very good keeps smell down.

I have not tried easibed but use aubiose which I find really good. It is also about £7 O0

i use it pigsdad and find its great, watch out for the easibed +, don't know if it's safe there are fungicides in it.

the easibed however, i was told is safe it's just mashed up pallets. i have also started mixing it with megazorb because it dosn't actually absorb, but it does take wettness out of top bedding layers. so yes i'm impressed, it's dust free, it dosn't blow around and it's cheap (i pay £5.50 a bale at our farm shop!).

Never heard of easibed + what is the difference? I get mine from a horse feed supplier as well, its cheap and keeps the smell down in the cage.

I used to use it but then tried bliss but I'm going to go back to easi bed as its just soo better than any other bedding and soo cheap but i use loads of it as its soo good and goes very quick with my lot ;D

is mega zorb (never seen it before) ? ermmm...... bits of wood ? Well, easi bed is just bits of wood and is dust free , cheap and soo easy to use and clean out. :D

Oh i don't like the look of that one bit, an animal could cut their padding on their feet with that!

Its not as hard as you think and it just lays flat. Its natural - Its like me really i dont like the look of megazorb one bit as it looks too soft and squishy, which could get caught in the animals nails xx0

But it doesn't though, it can't get stook in nails practically impossible by the looks of it. Plus megazorb can hardly hurt and animal

neither can easi bed - OoOOh well ill always use easi bed after my others all gone

i have been using megazorb for 6 weeks now and it is brilliant, I have just run out but at under £6 for 85ltrs i think it is fantastic value, i haven't had to clean out the piggies (2 hutches)as often as i used to, and have also used it for the rats and the hamster too.

Well actually you can get spliters from even the finest softest wood, i've had them myself.

just to say i wouldn't use anything that was not safe for my pigs, i wrote to the manufacturer before i used it, this was their reply:

Dear Ann,

Thank you for your enquiry about easibed dust free shredded wood fire
bedding for animals, easibed is a premium product, manufactured to strict
quality standards from recycled clean white wastewood, which comes from a
wide variety of British Sources. It is processed through state of the art
plant to remove any contaminants and all dust, before being baled into
sealed bales. No additives are used during manufacture. Whilst it is not
possible to say with any certainty what types of wood are in any particular
batch of easibed, it is all clean whitewood. The product has been trialled
with guinea pigs and it is endorsed by the small animal unit at Reaseheath
College. Easibed is a leading brand of bedding in the equine market and also
used for many different species of small animals, reptiles and birds.

I hope this information helps you, please do not hesitate to contact me if
you require any more details.

Kind regards

i would also like to say easibed is definitely not sharp in any way and is perfect when used 50/50 with megazorb!

Still doesn't change my mind at the fact you can get splinters from the softest wood.
