Just as we were to go away for a few days over Easter to stay with relatives I discovered that Tiggy, one of my sows had a cloudy eye with a piece of
hay sticking into it. We couldn't shift the hay & it was obviously hurting her. This was Easter sunday afternoon.

I persuaded my hubby that we couldn't leave her & phoned the oncall vet. We took her down to the surgery & the vet removed the hay with tweezers & gave us antiseptic eye ointment. He told us that if it had been left, her eye would have been badly ulcerated.

I'm now dreading the vet bill & we were late for our evening meal! I've got a long suffering family!

Well done to you and your family in thinking of the poor girl O0
sounds like t could be nasty and i'd hate to see the bill! :o

Hope she is better soon.
why does these things always happen at times when there is no normal surgery open

It's the law ;D The occasions when we have needed an emergency vet it has always been at the weekend of Bank Hols. The things we do! ::)

Hopefully you will only get charged for the consultation - ours is £50!

She's loads better the ointment did the trick.

Thanks for all your thoughts.

Now I know why I never have any money!
