Really random question, has anyone seen these pets at home easter eggs for small pets?

My partner just came home with 2 to share between the guineapigs and bunny. I know itll only be a once a week (at most) treat. Heres a pic of the nutritional and ingredients panel.

What do you guys think? Thanks

Its not something I’d let my animals have, the ingredients are not piggy (or bunny) appropriate

It has 1% dandelion powdered leaf, the rest is unhealthy fillers, I personally wouldn’t but it was meant as a nice gesture

Definitely meant as a nice gesture. Like I said, I blame pets at home...

Typical p@h putting the bottom line before the health of pets.

They do a range for other pets too and they are all the same, just with a different 2% flavour

If your partner wants to treat your piggies in the future, may I suggest a bag of forage or a carrot cottage (Medium or large)? They are more piggy appropriate and your piggies will love them. My 3 go mad for a Carrot Cottage!

Mickys usually really good with the Guinea pigs... shes the one who talked me into getting them in the first place lol.

Shed gone to the shops because we needed more hay and a few toys, and I think she just thought these were cute and assumed a pet shop would actually make sure food is safe before they sell it lol

It does seem a reasonable assumption to make. They are really cute I agree it's just a shame they aren't piggy friendly.

It’s a cute idea but a bad thing to feed. Try some fresh grass or forage as a snack. Pea flakes are also fine as a special treat. I have seen some weird things in pet stores to targeted to guinea pigs, the worst was a bag of rainbow microwaveable popcorn for piggies. Lots of products are targeted to what looks “cute” or appealing to humans and not actually what’s best for your small animal.

So the reply came back today.

To summarise basically they have said that the eggs were developed by professionals and we dont know what were talking about l. And to Basically only give it in small amounts...

Ugh, they are unbelievable

Exactly what sort of professionals would give those ingredients to piggies?

What a shame :(

P@H aren't keen on pulling things off shelves, unless it's deemed dangerous and basically forced by higher powers...

Several years ago I contacted them about an unsuitable hamster cage, which hammie literally chewed itself out off within hours. Was given the usual useless reply. But at least that forced me to never trust plastic cages, no matter how big, and use fish tank converts...

Someone who is a professional in marketing and profiting from poorly educated animal lovers.20210301_172110.webp
My boys just get these cat toy eggs filled with dried forage for their easter egg hunt.

Anyone can be a professional if you pay them it doesn't make them educated or knowledgeable.
