Eating Poops From The Cage Floor

One of my pigs was sitting under his log tunnel, I gave him a little stroke on the head. Afterwards he came out of the log tunnel, went to a side of the cage and then proceeded to eat three poops off the floor in one go. I have never seen either of them do that before! I know they eat their own soft poops but they do this by bending over and eating it directly out of their bum, I've never seen them just go over to a random part of the cage and eat a bunch of poops off the cage floor.

Should I be worried about this? Could he be ill or something? He is about 4 if that makes a difference and otherwise seems perfectly healthy and normal in his behaviour.

I would not worry. Guinea pigs pick up caecotrophs from the floor if one of them has lost some by accident. Eating other poos is also not hurtful.

Mine do this quite often, a fact I try not to think of when they lick me lol
