Boris and Mimi have the run of the kitchen/dining room most evenings, but I kept finding them both standing with their faces to the wall. I couldn't understand why till I realised that the walls of our old farmhouse used to be quite damp (till we had central heating put in 2 years ago) and they were probably licking the salt! We now have bare patches about 2 inches off the ground where they've actually nibbled at the walls! It doesn't seem to have had any side effects, but I now put the sides of the run up against the walls whenever they're let loose!
Here's Mimi this evening before I managed to get the run up...

I feel your pain! Frenzy, one of my prior guinea pigs, had this thing about chewing the doorframes and the wooden baseboards along the bottom of the floor. We ended up with all these gnawed baseboards. Fast-forward several years and our new pig, Hadley, decided she would also like to chew the baseboards, since they were already pre-chewed in some places. After that, she decided chewing the drywall might be even better! And from her example, her 5-year-old sister, Sundae, who has never chewed the walls in her life, decided that if Hadley is doing it, she might as well chew some drywall too! So now I keep fighting this war to keep them away from my walls... I hear chewing, I get up and say, "Hadley! Stop it!" She runs a foot and look innocent, I sit back down, she resumes chewing, and we repeat endlessly!
