I've noticed that when Waffles eats, he’ll drag his food into his hidey hole but if I’m eating, he’ll eat out in the open

Hi! Is Waffle a single piggy? In that case he is desperate for company.

Thanks, when I adopted him I was told not to pair him with another as he didn’t get along with the guineas in his previous house but with this info, I’ll look for another guinea pig to house with him

A lot of people have been told that before, but I'm pleased to hear that you'll look into a friend for him, that's great news. I'm not sure where you're located, but if you look near the top of the page there's a link to our recommended rescues - it's called Rescue Locator. This is the best chance of you finding a compatible piggy friend for Waffles.

That's cute that he's seeing you as part of his herd. If he's struggled with other piggies before, it would definitely be best to go to a recommended rescue who will pair him for you (boar dating) to make sure you don't end up with a friend he doesn't get on with. There's also the option of having him neutered, and pairing him with a female piggy.
