Just wanted to check all the plants on a link to shelled warriors, that they are safe for piggies. It gives detailed pics of a range of plants, and states they are safe for tortoises. If they are definately all safe for guinea pigs I'm gonna try to grow some of them. So here is the list:

- pansy
- hedge mustard
- milk thistle
- campanula
- smooth sow thistle
- bindweed
- mimula
- petunias
- vetch
- sedum
- pyramidal bugle
- bittercress
- garlic mustard
- aubretia
- speedwell
- yarrow
- sweet violet

There's some debate over bindweed. Some people say it's poisonous and some say it's fine. My rabbit book says it's safe but my guinea pig book says poisonous. Someone on here or another forum said that the bindweed people usually have in their gardens is fine, but another type is poisonous.

My old guinea pigs used to always eat bindweed and were fine, but my new ones don't like it! so I don't feed it to them.

I'll be keeping my eye on this thread, we have Petunias and Camanula in our garden.

Do you know if marigolds are okay too? I've seen hays with dried marigolds included but wasn't sure about fresh?

(Sorry to hijack your post! ") )

Roses are Ok as well (apart from the thorns, of course). I found that my piggies do not eat much either dethorned stem with leaves or broken off blooms, but they certainly like to take them apart!

Hi i just searched on here for marigolds and found this thread my vet said that bindweed is highly toxic for piggies so best avoid it if poss but as someone said (can't remember who sorry:red) they have given it to their pigs before with no ill effects but my vet was quite certain. so glad about marigolds have some my neighbour gave me :(|)
