Since Sofia died I've really missed having a little trio of sows so today I got Edie :) Her owner let me hold her and I knew then I had to take her home x) I'm not exactly sure of her age, about 1 year old I think. I put her in with Marmalade and Amber in the big run whilst I set up a mini run (I was right next to them the whole time) and Marmalade was clicking her teeth at Edie a bit, and Edie's hair was up a bit (I know when dogs don't like other dogs hair on their back rises, is this the same with guinea-pigs?) I put them in the mini run and there was a little bit of teeth clicking but not much and they soon all settled down to eat grass. I thought it was funny because Marmalade and Edie were clicking their teeth at each other and Amber was sitting right next to them, completley oblivious to the tension behind her, just eating grass :)) I've wanted a longhair guinea-pig for a while, I'm not exactly sure what breed or crossbreed she is but I think she's very pretty :)
Here she is:

They all wanted to eat the same piece of grass :))

She's so cute :)

She looks like a Sheltie to me but I'm no expert. Her fur isn't as long as my Sheltie but that could be her age or because it's been trimmed. :)

As soon as I read the word "Edie" it reminded me of this. :red

Edie is beautiful! I hope that the girls will settle down together!

Awww such a pretty girl! Hope she settles into her new home.

Thank you :) I'm starting to worry a bit more about her and Marmalade now. Firstly, Edie wouldn't go in the hutch when Marmalade was in it, so I picked her up and put her in the hutch next to the food bowl. Edie ate a bit, but very slowly and cautiously. I went to fill up the water bottles, and came back and Edie had squished herself into the hay rack. I was worried about her getting stuck in it, I got her out and put her back down and she ate some grass. They are fine in the same hutch but its when they come face to face that they both stare at each other and its a bit tense, if that makes sense? I put an extra hay rack in, an extra water bottle and an extra food bowl, so I'm hoping that Edie will get food and water. Marmalade's even started chasing Amber now which she's never done before. I hope this settles down in a few days because Edie looks so sad and I just feel so sorry for her, at her old home she had a huge run and she's gone from that to my garden and I just feel so sorry for her because she looks so sad. I wish she knew how much I like her, she's a great little guinea-pig and I really hope they get on and it all settles down in a few days. I'm at school tommorow, but my Mum is home, so I'm going to ask her to check on them a few times in the day and I'll sit out with them.
I cleaned out and disenfected the hutch, then I put clean vetbed in and everything. I was going to move the run to a different part of the garden so it didnt smell like any guinea-pig but my Mum's been clipping the hedge and she's got old plants dotted about the garden so there's not really any space that has grass so I've left them where they are until I can move all the plants and bits at the weekend. Sorry for a long post, I'm just worrying about them. I'm considering swapping them with Roy's hutch, which has 2 floors. Do you think this would help or would it be a bad idea?

more space is always best.

|Lovely shletie, BTW.... gorgeous!

You could swap hutches as long as Roy will be ok in a smaller hutch. Things are going to be strange for all 3 girls as things have changed. It sounds to me like Marmalade is asserting her dominance. Is she the dominant pig? Only if there is a lot of teeth chattering and signs of aggression should you intervene.

x) x) x)

Red-and-white-sheltie-aholic here. She's absolutely gorgeous!

It'll take them all time to settle, pigs who are new to each other can take a good few days to get used to each others presence in their enclosure, things can appear a bit tense when they're face to face but if they're not flying at each other, they'll settle soon enough.

I think I'm going to swap their hutch with Roy and then save up for a bigger hutch and sell one of the ones I already have, because the one they are in at the moment isn't really big enough for three
