Oh my god!

I received another zooplus order today, was sat in my inlaws living room, unpacking.

Piggy food, nice, green oats, nice,... ooooooooooh, the seesaw I ordered! Wonderful!

Unpacked it, realised I would have to assemble it myself later, and took a closer look at it.

AND ALL OF A SUDDEN SOMETHING MOVED!

I almost dropped it.

Out from somewhere came crawling one of the most hideous bugs I have ever seen! I made a weird sound, squeak-scream, my MIL came rushing and took it outside... Oh good god.. I suppose its a good sign that they are actually using real untreated wood, that is safe for piggies to chew on, but god.. I hate creepy crawlies and especially when you dont expect them! :embarassed:

My MIL had to shake all the bits out outside to make sure that there werent any more bugs in there :'( :embarassed:

Dear me.

Now what would you do? Except that in untreated wood, you will find some insects, or spray the whole thing with disinfectant and rinse it under the shower to make sure that bug hasnt laid any eggs?

Eeek.

Especially since the whole seesaw thing was seal-wrapped in plastic, so either that was a cockroach type that will survive for years without food (nah, it was too small for that) or the seesaws are VERY freshly wrapped before they are shipped...

*shudders*

I hope it didnt lay eggs in the wood... :( See, the seesaw has bark on the wood and all, so thats why I am afraid to find further "tenants" in those nooks and crannies..

;D i'm afraid i wouldn't be having that seesaw indoors after that experience!
write and tell zooplus what happened they might send you another one or maybe a different product, tell them you were very distressed and have a phobia of bugs! :)

How horrid :o

I'd return it and ask for another one without the added extras :smiley6600:

they rang me this morning, and they are sending out a new one straight away, plus loads of apologies! O0 good service!

;D nice one do you have to send the old one back?

they said they would give me a number to write on the invoice that came with the seesaw, and they would send someone round to pick it up from my place at a time convenient for me, and send a new one out straight away.
then I got an email saying that on second thought, they think I should destroy it, preferably by fire, and they send me a new one out.

So I got two now :) Do you think pet friendly insect killer should do the trick? (dont really feel like burning the thing)

i wouldnt burt it ;D you got a free one now lol
Not sure about the insect killer :)

Couldn't you use it outside in one of their outside runs in the summer?

I LOVE Freebies!! O0 O0

Holy cow Ulrike - I am now kneeling on my chair because I don't want my feet to be on the floor!
Burn it I say! This has really reminded me of something that happened to me years ago. I was brought back a wooden carved mask from Tibet about 9 years ago - just before I moved here. It was late at night when I was given it by my friends who I'd been flat, dog & cat sitting for, for about 1 year. I noticed that it had what looked like a big blob of white emulsion paint on the back but thought no more. As I had managed to get the flat above theirs I put the mask straight up on to my freshly painted wall before I went to bed. The next morning there was a rash of tiny spiders on my wall coming from the mask. Tibetan spiders :o ffs even my old boyf freaked & he was one of the hardest blokes you'll ever come accross. He rolled up kitchen towel around his hand & squashed them all. For the following 6 months we never saw 1 insect in that flat. I bet there were a few big spiders eating everything. I don't know how we lived there for that amount of time!
