Elder piggy feeding help

Eevee is getting pretty old now and sleeps a lot of the time. Sadly this means by the time she goes to the food dish a lot of the food is already eaten by the other two.

She also has a crazy obsession with chewing the bars for food, that she doesn’t even notice I’ve put it in until I poke her and again her two younger greedier cagemates have eaten quite a bit by then. She’s a lot skinnier than she used to be, now just over 900grams In her older age.

is there any way I can make sure she gets a good amount of food? 3 food bowls doesn’t work as they prefer to share a single bowl for some reason, but there are two in the cage that I put the food in. She’s not drastically losing weight. Its staying level but I would like to make sure she gets her fair share as her boarfriend is a very chunky greedy boy.

I swear by wheatbran for gaining weight, recommended by local rescue. Could you take Eevee out the cage a few times a week for some of that?
Could you guide her away from the bars with the bowl of food, so the others don't get a head start?
She's looking good for a senior lady.

wheatbran? Ill definitely look into that thank you. How do you use it?

sadly she’s like a possessed demon when it comes to the bars. Really not sure why lol. Tried so many tricks and nothing works until she eventually realises the food is there.

My Bruno is the exact same, put their veggies in next to them and he’ll still be going nuts on the bars until I’ve poked him, silly piggies :) x

It is funny isn’t it? She knows what the poke means and happily runs over to the bowl after.

Oh man I know the feeling. Can’t stop her no matter what. She’s taught Yugi but Yugi doesn’t chew. She bites down and tugs on it like a dog with a rope. :)):))

Doh sorry I thought your avatar was a rainbow piggy. Memory like a sieve.
I buy wheatbran from Amazon or health food shop and put it on a paper plate and they hoover it up. My original piggies I got 5 years ago, I over fed them before following the feeding guides on here, and gave them wheatbran every night at bedtime and the boar got to 1.6kg. All 3 massive, like black oil spills when they laid down 🙈

No worries :) hopefully he’ll be alive for a long time still. He’s about 3

oh so just as is? Thank you. I’ll try that with her :) she’s not too fussy so hopefully she’ll eat it.

Yes just dry, guinea pig crack I call it 😊
 
My old boy is the same. His wife is equally elderly so once he knows it’s there then it’s fine. He is blind and I think deaf now too. I’ve stopped using bowls and I just put the food in then literally stand him on it so he knows where it is.

I’d consider taking him out for his own veggies if he is losing a race to them consistently.

They refused to touch it. Stubborn lot. Duke and Tristan in the other cage who didn’t need it scoffed it down though….

tried to add a little water but they still won’t touch it.

She is getting some, but compared to the other two it’s just a little less and I’m a worrier lol.
she still happily scoffs down the food when she gets to it :) they’re just quicker

Always the way! Hope she's stays at 900g and chonky Joey doesn't eat all the goodies.
