Senior Guinea Pig
Tonight we noticed that Ellie had slightly runny poos, I washed her bottom to clean her up and we gave her arrowroot which helps firm up poos, she was fine in herself.
Now a few hours later we have noticed that her poos are still runny but slightly firmer than before, however, we have also noticed that there is blood coming from her vagina - not running out but quite thick. Obviously we will get her to the vets as soon as possible (will be calling first thing). This is all very reminiscent of her late friend Terk - the blood and abnormal poos. Am assuming the possibilities here are either Pyometra, Ovarian cysts or an ovarian tumour (like Terk). We can't feel any cysts. If it is Pyometra then she will need to be spayed as soon as possible and as she is a heart pig there is a big risk there but one we will need to take.
She is still ok in herself and eating fine, she will not be having any veg until the poos have firmed up. We are giving Dioralyte and probiotics too.
Will update once she has been seen by the vet.
