Names Amy, and my beautiful new baby boy is called Crixus Bandicoot. Photos to be put up soon dont worry :))

I have a few questions as I just want to make sure he's as happy as possible with me, still need to settle in properly but hes displaying behaviour that's new to me as hes a baby and usually I resuce older guineapigs, though I class him as a petshop rescue since he only had the size of a cutlery draw to move in before!

At night time he has random bursts of sprinting round his cage at high speed, making noises like a chuffing noise, crashing around into things and when he stops he grunts/growls.

At the moment hes on his own, hes been used to that, but dont fear when hes old enough to go I will get him neutured and paired with a lady friend, but he gets lots of attention and baby talks and cuddles, just wondered what it meant.

Plus, hes drinking an awful lot of water, should I be concerned or is this due to the moist warm air at the moment?

Thankyou! :)

My pigs tend to run around like loonies. I dont know but the crashing into things in my veiw is because they are going so fast, that when they turn their back legs crash n bang into whatever is in the way. Id keep an eye on him though.

Hi! It's called "popcorning" in guinea pig speak, and it is a sign that your little boy is very happy indeed and has lots of excess energy! It is normal behaviour for youngsters. They are also more vocal than adults because they are most at risk at that age (reach but no sense yet) and their constant chattering gives the roaming piggy group an ongoing update of their whereabouts and status.

I wish him well for his op and a life with ladies!

We've had our two girls for two weeks now (they are 7wks old) and trust me they go nuts in their cage, they've got a c&c cage on the floor during the evening but they don't go as mad in there as they do in their slightly smaller one I love it when they popcorn to. Our two have little drinks at the water bottle but they are the opposite and don't drink loads I'm sure all piggies are different.
xx
