Hi all. I have a poorly piggie who needs an X-ray on Wednesday, but he’s very underweight and needs to gain some before he can be put under anaesthetic. Supreme recovery food doesn’t agree with him, so our exotic vet has just given us the Emeraid food supplement. I have never seen this before so I’m wondering if it’s good and if anyone has used/uses this.

Thanks :)

Oh yes. I’ve never met a piggy who doesn’t love it! It’s very calorific so you don’t need to get as much into them as with other recovery foods. Mine positively guzzle it down.

I have just given him his first lot, he was biting the syringe for more! He loves it. Wonder why they like it so much? It seems a lot better than the other stuff they normally give

If you’re feeding him up, let him have as much as he will eat in a sitting. I usually find 2 scoops made up into a gloop makes more than they can eat, but one isn’t quite enough.

I used 1 scoop as instructed on the packaging and there was just a small amount that he refused to take, I think it filled him up! I will make sure he has as much as he wants and make him another batch if needs be. He needs to put weight on before his x ray on Wednesday x

Little and often is probably the best way. It’s fab to find a recovery feed that they actually enjoy. I find that when I put one of mine back in with the others after an Emeraid feed the others are desperate to lick their whiskers for any remnants.

Yes definitely! I was surprised by how much he enjoyed it but it’s great, especially for really poorly piggies. It also has a creamy texture so it’s easy for them to eat and digest
