Enoch Powell and Homoerotic Poetry

This may be a slight surprise, as the man in question will forever be remembered for his inflammatory speech in Birmingham on matters of immigration.

However, in his early life he wrote several pastiches of AE Houseman's poetry with an overtly homoerotic theme, he was asked about these towards the end of his life, but refused to answer.

He also co-sponored the abolition of the death penalty Bill, and along with Margaret Thatcher supported the Sexual Offences Act 1967, that decriminalised homosexual acts etc etc with conditions.
