Hiya! I know this is a lot later, but I’ve been given this antibiotic to treat a small cyst, from the Vet. Can you tell me if it worked to heal your pigs abscess or did you need to have it removed?
I have moved your post to its own thread So that you get individual advice and support. The post you originally wrote on is over 7 years old and the OP has not logged on the forum for over two years.
Cysts and abscesses generally refill if they are only drained. Surgery can be needed to marsupialise abscesses, with them being left stitched open so they can be repeatedly flushed out so they heal from the inside out.
Baytril isn’t always the best antibiotic for abscesses but it can deal with some. Azithromycin is a strong antibiotic but generally has better results with an abscess.
It really comes down to what exactly you are dealing with.
