Thank you so much for thinking of me Sue and posting pics of the boys - they brought a tear to my eye and a smile to my face after the grim few days here at the rescue.
Pregnant girl Phoebe had a very difficult birth and 2 of her 4 babies were born dead, she was very weak and deteriorated over the next day and passed away. Her two remaining babies also lost their fight for life within a few days. Phoebe had been poorly while pregnant, and despite clearing after antibiotics it seems that the illness claimed it's victims when they were most vulnerable. It's devastating beyond words - Phoebe became pregnant on the journey to the rescue as the rabbit rescue where she was dumped 'thought it would ok for 30 mins' for her to be in with a juvenile male and adult male (Merrick). For the want of a second cardboard box and an ounce of sense this whole tragedy could have been avoided.
I have more sad news, for the past 5 weeks I have been treating KatiePig for a very stubborn URI, a cocktail of antibiotics and daily injections have failed to help her. She passed away a couple of days ago too. I do not have the words to be able to say how I feel at the moment so all I can do is give you the facts of the passing of a very special little girl who went though so much in her short life.
I have not had such a grim, sad time since opening the rescue. I would like to say thank you to the Piggy Bank UK members and rescues for their much needed support over the last few days and to the facebookers who have followed events on the rescue FB page. Without having such friends life would be very hard just now, this is when rescues close as the emotional strain is too much to bear. Having those to share it with that understand that our babies are so much more then 'just a guinea pig' is a huge help - thank you from the bottom of my heart.
