My vet told me that Holly might be lacking essential fatty acids in her diet. Whilst I'm not sure at the moment that is the case, any ideas of what I can put into the diet to try to improve things? The vet suggested olive oil, but I don't want to syringe it if I can just add something in to the food for all 3 of them.

You could buy smooth baby fruit food and put olive oil into and and syringe feed her like that :)

No offence Ali but I would be wary of putting oil into my guineas unless Belinda or Vedra had OKd it :) I'd also want to know how much and for how long... Its quite possibly OK though just being cautious :)

Thanks v much Karen. :) I emailed Belinda, who suggested Udos or hemp oil, or linseed extruded pellets for horses. Going out soon on the hunt for some of this stuff. :)

Try phoning a stables/farm shop and see if they'll open a bag for you. The only prob with horse pellets is they're so big and will need crushing/breaking. Or perhaps someone on here has horses.... Baileys suppliers may do some and will send you a sample size bag. Baileys Horse Feeds take a look at Outshine, that caught my eye, but I've never used them, you need pellets I think not cubes :)

Pellcano said 'The vet suggested olive oil' I just suggested how she could go about giving it her pigs as her vet recommended it to her :)

Yep, I found that stuff on my travels in an enormous bag, so bought some hemp oil from my health food shop instead to try.

OK :) Outshine comes in a 5k tub and your Buns would probably eat it too if the hemp doesn't go down well :) Is Hemp oil 'oily' or palatable? Coming from a health food shop I'd imagine they'd try and make it a bit palatable at least!

Oh I didn't see anything in a tub, just an enormous bag of cubes. Will have to have another look at that. I put a drop of hemp oil in each food bowl and mixed all the food up, just to try it. Doesn't seem to have stopped them from eating, so think it has gone down OK.

Thanks - that was the stuff I saw in the farm shop today, but in enormous bags. Will have to see if they have the tubs...

Contact the site and ask for a sample of Outshine for your Fussy Mare. Just don't end up buying a horse LOL! You're farm shop should be able to get them in, probably have to order them especially.

:o Don't think there's much danger of me buying a horse! ;D

Will see what I can do... Thanks! O0
