So I bought lavander essential oil to add a few drops to water and spray the gp cage to keep flies away but I also bought it because it relaxes Guinea pigs I'm convinced on of my boys has either ADHD or anxiety because of the way his general behaviour is hes very hyper active all the time he sprints around the cage all day and no matter how much I take him out and put him in a pen for floor time with lots of toys and thing he has to move or jump over to get past to really tire him out and hes still full of energy I've tried changing his diet but it didnt work so i got lavander oil to help calm him i put a few drops into a spray bottle for around the cage is this safe to do and will it calm him down a little 20190602_182858.webp that's my very hyper little boy Rizzo

I wouldn’t use any oils or anything around pigs as they have sensitive respiratory systems.
I also don’t think ADHD is a thing in guineapig pigs? I think an anxious pig is more likely to hide then do zoomies? It sounds to me like he just has lots of energy and is a happy pig

Is he a baby? I think babies are more active.
Is he your new boy living together with Rico and Rocky? Sorry if I haven't been keeping up with news lately.

Hi!

Please do not use essential oils and scented products around guinea pigs; including perfumed air fresheners, scent sticks, and highly perfumed human body care products.
Guinea pigs have a much more sensitive respiratory system than us and a different body chemistry. Things that are OK for humans can have a different effect other species.

How old is your boy and has he got a companion? Healthy sub-adult youngsters should be bursting with energy, jumping (popcorning) and running like mad (zooming) or any combination thereof. You can find videos of these normal activities in our enrichment guide:
Enrichment Ideas for Guinea Pigs

I just want to add in terms of essential oils they should not be used neat on humans due to causing potential skin problems so I'm assuming problems would be magnified with guinea pigs. With it being an oil it doesn't dissolve/mix with water and usually essential oils are mixed with a base oil to dilute them before being used in reed diffusers or on the skin
