I have a middle aged sow who won't bond with any of my other pigs (ages 2-5). I've made numerous attempts and it no longer feels safe to keep trying. She arrived with another sow but this pairing didn't work out. She's currently next door to her siblings so she can hear and see them, but ideally I want all my pigs to have a pen-mate. It's been suggested to me that I try her with a baby sow, as she's not likely to feel threatened by her and will hopefully take on a motherly role. Apparently it's very rare for babies to be adopted out from rescues, but there are, apparently, 'ethical' breeders. Can anyone recommend? Thanks

As we are pro rescue forum, we dont have any information on breeders.

I would agree in speaking with the rescues because while she may need a baby friend (and they certainly do adopt out babies, for example if a sow comes in already pregnant), it may also be that she would do fine with another sow who isn’t one of the ones you already have!

To have the support of a rescue with a sow who may well be difficult to bond is a very valuable resource so you don’t end up with a failed bond and another single piggy.
Some sows become more difficult to bond as they age - they can become less tolerant - so there actually isn’t any guarantee she will accept a baby (some sows just won’t).
If you do get a baby and the baby is rejected you would need to know the baby would be accepted by one of your other pairs (I saw from your other thread that you have a boar/sow pair and a sow/sow pair)
