Hiya, I'm sure my piggy Marble is overweight and I dont know what to do for exercise? I have 8 piggies and they all take turns in the large run in the garden, only prob is Marble just sits and eats lol! How do I persuade him to run around? I've tried bringing him indoors for a while in the day but he just sits and eats the carpet! Tempting him with food does help a little, but he wont move too far for it! The other piggies have put on weight since theyve been eating grass most days but I see them run about a lot so not too worried about them. I think the fact that Marble is on his own doesnt help (he was with his brother but he died last year). Any suggestions? x

perhaps get marble a friend to help him O0 he may be eating because he is depressed and lonely :'( :'( :'( like we eat when we're depressed and sad O0 he sounds alot like zoe who won't exercise, put her outside she sits there with a look saying " well you put me down here you pick me up" :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: yet jessie you put her out side and its "see you' and she is off and running :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: i would see if perhaps he needs cheering up, perhaps put his cage next to another and see if this helps or halving his cage up and putting in a friend or having him out with the others at playtime. good luck sending hugs :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: girls send marble :-* :-* :-*

Thanks for your reply, his cage is right next to the others so he can see/talk to them. I know he could do with a friend but I dont really want to get anymore piggies just yet, 8 is enough for me at the mo! Its a shame as his other brother is on his own too but they will not get on together and would fight ::) 98) He gets plenty of attention every day, maybe I will try putting the runs close together when they are out on the grass.

I tend to find the girls run about much more and sometimes can be hard to catch lol (I'm sure they do it on purpose!) the boys seem to be more laid back and not too bothered! ::)

What you can do to give him some exercise without him actually noticing is to put his food high. I have a hay rack and they need to stretch themselves to get at.
Also the food bowl is on a little tower of bricks, they need to climb up to get to it. The houses are double storey, so the favourite spot for most of them is in the top house. If you have a "ground house" put a brick infront of the entrance and they need to hop over.
When you give him a treat, make him reach for it or hide it around the hutch, so he has to look for it.

Good luck in getting Marble a bit slimmer.
